About the EMDA Association

With the increase in life expectancy and the aging of the population, dementia has become an epidemic. Dementia is a syndrome of impairments in intellectual functions, memory loss, behavioral disorders, and failure to perform daily activities. Dementia is incurable and terminal.

The number of Alzheimer's patients in Israel is estimated at approximately 160. A great physical, financial and mental burden is placed on all family members caring for the patient, with the ability to cope being low, to the point of feeling helpless and helpless. The Amda Association for Dementia, Alzheimer's and Similar Diseases in Israel was established to assist the families of patients during their personal and family coping.

The EMDA Association was founded in 1988 by family members of people with Alzheimer's (Reg. 58-013-071-4).

The EMDA Association is operated by volunteers in dozens of branches across the country. The sources of funding are annual membership fees, donations from members and supporters, and grants from foundations and authorities. The EMDA Association is managed by a Board of Directors elected by the General Assembly, and is supported by the Scientific Council, most of whose members are top-notch professionals in the country in the fields of medicine, nursing, law, etc. The EMDA Association is a member of the Alzheimer's Association International (ADI) and the Alzheimer's Europe Association.
