Activities for people with dementia
Does mom sit on the couch most of the day, bored? Do the grandchildren not want to visit grandpa because they don't know what to do with him? Does your spouse wander around the house restlessly because he can't find anything to do?
עAmda's death I have collected 101 ideas for keeping a person with dementia busy: physical activity and movement, using the senses, reminiscing and nostalgia, art and craft, baking and cooking, cognitive activity, daily activities at home, gardening, and more.
For a consultation with a dementia specialist on the subject, call the EMDA hotline at *8889.
You are welcome to print the idea board and hang it on the refrigerator.

Creating Moments of Joy for People Living with Dementia
The following tips will help you and the person with dementia visit and reconnect with family, friends, and neighbors during the holidays.
The holidays can be an enriching and meaningful time for both the person with dementia and their family. Adopting and maintaining family rituals and traditions helps all family members feel a sense of belonging and contributes to family identity. For the person with dementia, the connection to a familiar past is a source of security.
It is important to remember that families often prefer avoidance over coping – and are once again left alone.
The goal is to help families prepare for this period in advance - as much as possible; the key to this is planning, openness and sharing.
