Your voice can change reality! We need you with us!
160,000 families in Israel are dealing with dementia. Behind this enormous number is an entire life, a complex daily struggle, and unfortunately – often also a lot of concealment and silence.
Representing families with dementia, including Alzheimer's
We are in the association EMDA Association We wake up every morning to fight for these families. We work tirelessly to bring the most pressing issues to the public agenda:
Help needed for outreach efforts
As part of our outreach efforts, we write and offer the media (national and local media) dozens of articles on current and other topics – from how to deal with dementia during alarms, to Alzheimer's medications that are left out of the basket, to topics such as dementia and women, head injuries in sports, and more.
But here we encounter a wall.
Editors and journalists refuse to publish these important stories without your face and voice. They want to hear the ground. Without interviewees – family members caring for their loved ones – with identifying details – full name and city – these stories are shelved, and the issue is pushed aside.
We understand that it's not easy. We know that there is still stigma surrounding the disease, and that many families choose to hide it. But this concealment is exactly what is stopping us from bringing the solutions you so desperately need.
Make your voice heard!
If you agree that- #Dementia_is_not_a_shameIt's time to really show it. So that dementia becomes normalized in Israeli society, and so that decision-makers wake up, Your voice must be heard.Don't let the subject return to darkness!
We urgently need family caregivers (as well as people with early dementia and professionals in the field) who are willing to be exposed (with full names) and interviewed for articles on various topics related to dementia. The topic is less important, your presence is critical here.
