Make it accessible in more languages – volunteers who speak foreign languages are needed
The EMDA Association works every day to provide practical information and emotional support to families dealing with dementia. In order to reach more and more families, we are looking for volunteers to help us make the content available in additional languages.
Who do we need?
We especially need speakers Russian, Arabic, English, French וSpanish As a mother tongue, with Hebrew at the native language level, who can help in one or more of the following ways:
- Translation + linguistic editing and cultural adaptation
We use advanced translation intelligence, but we require proofreading, accuracy, and adaptation to different audiences. The work can be done remotely and in flexible scopes: website pages, activity kits, Facebook content, and more. - Facilitating Zoom support groups for family caregivers
Amda runs about 70 support groups, some on Zoom – usually once a month, 90 minutes in the evening. We are looking for language-speaking professionals (or former family caregivers with a therapeutic orientation) with a big heart and a willingness to lead a small, meaningful group on a voluntary basis. Suitable backgrounds: social work, gerontology, occupational therapy, and more. - Sectoral concentration and community organization
In order to expand to additional sectors (e.g., immigrants from France, immigrants from Russia and the Commonwealth of Nations, the Haredi community, and more), we are looking for volunteer coordinators to assist in contacting authorities, organizing events, and leading Facebook/WhatsApp groups in different languages.
Why volunteer?
Amda operates on a limited budget that is based primarily on donations. We currently cannot afford to pay for access to additional languages — but with the help of volunteers we can significantly expand our support and impact.
