Amda's closed Facebook group | For support around the clock
Share and consult with experienced professionals at any time about caring for a person with dementia.
What is it?
Amda's closed Facebook group is a Facebook support group designed for family members caring for a person with dementia or Alzheimer's. The group allows for consultation, asking questions, sharing daily struggles, receiving practical information, and hearing from other family members who have gone through similar situations.
The group has over 11,000 family members, caregivers and professionals, and on any given day, over 3,000 participants are active in it.
Several posts are posted in the group every day, and each post usually receives a response from experienced family members, caregivers, professionals, and experts from EMDA.
The group is managed by Anat Kedar , a volunteer at the EMDA Association, in collaboration with the EMDA team.

Why should you join?
Coping with dementia is often complex, confusing and lonely. Even when you have a loving family around you, it's not always easy to explain to someone who hasn't experienced it firsthand what's really going on at home.
In the EMDA group, you can meet people who understand. People who face similar questions, similar dilemmas, similar moments of difficulty — and also small moments of relief, hope, and connection.
The group allows for community support almost at any time, even beyond the operating hours of other services. Therefore, at EMDA, we highly recommend joining it even if you are not regularly active on Facebook. If necessary, you can open a dedicated Facebook profile just for the purpose of participating in the group.
Who is it for?
The group is mainly intended for:
- Spouses of a person with dementia
- Children and family members caring for a parent with dementia
- Relatives accompanying a person with cognitive decline, dementia or Alzheimer's
- Family members looking for guidance, sharing, emotional support, and practical information
- Professionals who are interested in helping, learning, and being attentive to the needs of families
What topics can be consulted on?
You can ask questions about many topics related to living with dementia, for example:
- Dealing with changes in behavior
- Communicating with a person with dementia
- Difficulty bathing, eating, sleeping, leaving the house, or taking medication
- Hiring a foreign worker or a home caregiver
- Rights, services and assistance frameworks
- Family dilemmas and challenges between family members
- Questions aboutEMDA services, support groups, lectures, activation kits and other solutions
Important Information: The group does not replace medical, legal, or personal therapeutic advice. It can assist with initial guidance, sharing experiences, and finding a direction for the future.
Can I post anonymously?
Yes. Anonymous posts can be made in the group.
This option is especially important when it comes to sensitive questions, family difficulties, behavior that is embarrassing to share, or personal dilemmas that you do not want to be associated with your Facebook profile.
Group rules
In order for the group to remain a safe, respectful, and helpful place, it is important to adhere to the group rules :
- Maintain a respectful and non-aggressive discussion
- Only publish content related to dementia, Alzheimer's, caregiver families, and the care of a person with dementia.
- Do not post sales promotions, tags, business cards, or self-service offers
- If you are a professional in the field, you should disclose this, and not use the group for self-promotion.
- The answer is given in a group and not in private, so that others can also learn from the answers.
- Do not advertise a search for caregivers, foreign workers, etc.
- Original content must be posted; shares from other groups or business pages will be deleted.
Posts that are not in the spirit and rules of the group may be deleted.
