Support and Advice Center 8889* of the association EMDA Association Designed to provide initial information, guidance, and support to family members of people with dementia and Alzheimer's. This is a place to turn to when needed – a human, experienced, and understanding address that will help organize, direct to relevant services, and provide initial answers to questions that concern families with dementia (including Alzheimer's).

Who is it for?

The *8889 service is intended primarily for families who are already dealing with Alzheimer's or other dementias and need specific guidance:

  • Spouses, children, and relatives of a person living with dementia – often the primary caregivers
  • People with mild cognitive impairment (MCI), suspected or diagnosed
  •  Professionals who care for people living with dementia and seek professional guidance

What topics can we contact you about?

You can contact us at *8889 for assistance on a wide range of dementia-related issues, including:

  • Dealing with behavioral difficulties of a person with dementia
  • Information aboutEMDA services and continued relevant support
    (For example – support groups, events, kits)
  • Questions regarding complementary assistance sources for EMDA (daycare centers, municipalities, professionals, etc.)
  • Basic information about the rights of families with dementia and Alzheimer's
  • Initial guidance on possible steps down the road

Amada's 8889* support and counseling center is staffed by professionals and volunteers who have undergone specialized training by Amada. The response is provided from familiarity with the world of families dealing with dementia, and from a desire to provide humane, respectful, and practical guidance.
